[Phone; drone filter]

Well... looks like we're all going to have to do a little cutting back this Christmas.  But you know, even if there's no power and not as much food, at least we've all still got a good, solid roof over our heads.  If you look at it that way, the town's been a lot kinder to us for Christmas than they were for Thanksgiving.  I'm sure this is nothing we can't weather if everybody pitches in and helps each other out.  Maybe we can set up a food bank or some sort of shelter.  It's times like these when a community really needs to come together, after all.

[Early evening; door to door]

[True to his earlier sentiment, Dad is going to pitch in and do his part to make sure his neighbors are at least able to have something to eat during these rough times.  He's always been a firm believer in preparedness, and thank goodness, because by now he's built up quite a stock of cream pies.  There's probably a few hundred of them safely captchalogued away in his trusty wallet modus, so he figures he can spare a few here and there to feed his hungry neighbors.  Dad will be going around knocking on every door in town on the first day of the event, hoping to share the wealth.]

Knock knock, neighbor!

That regular whipped cream one there...

[He points.]

Next time you see John, throw it in his face. Make sure he knows it's from me, but I'm pretty sure he'll know without you having to say anything.

Right in here.

[He pulls out his wallet, patting it.]

John and I are part of a long, proud line of pranksters.

I'll consider myself warned, then.

[ She gestures to the fireplace, where there's a kettle near the fire. ]

Can I get you some tea before you go, to warm up?

[Feel her judgemental stare, Mr. Egbert.]

I think I can spare a few minutes for a cup of tea.

[Well, then, let's do this right. Dad opens his wallet and uncaptchalogues all of the pies at the same time. Suddenly, there is a 3' x 3' x 3' cube of pies stacked up in the living room.]

H-Holy shit!

What... How the fuck...?!

Some trick, huh?

Fuck, is your wallet... magic or somethin'?

I suppose it probably looks that way, doesn't it? But no, it's just a fetch modus. Which is really just a fancy way of saying 'portable storage.'

noluckduck: (Ooooh I see what you're doin' there)

[Suddenly, she seems a lot more interested!] How's it work?

You just captchalogue things and store them inside.

[He opens it for a moment to flash the inside. It looks like he's got a bunch of cards inside.]

There's different kinds, but I've always found the wallet to be the most reliable.

From: [personal profile] noluckduck
No, I mean... What's inside it? Does it need batteries, or is it rechargeable? Who made that thing?

Date: 2011-12-25 11:34 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] busy-fists.livejournal.com
Huh? No, it doesn't need any batteries. It's just a wallet. You can buy them all over the place.

[Wallets can't usually store a fuckton on pies inside them, but...]

So... is the fetch modus thing like a plugin?

Date: 2011-12-26 04:31 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] busy-fists.livejournal.com
That depends, what's a plugin?

Date: 2011-12-26 05:33 pm (UTC)
noluckduck: (Oh come on.)
From: [personal profile] noluckduck
Well... It's somethin' ya plug into somethin' else...

Oh, haha! I thought you were talking about computers or something. Nope, it's completely wireless.

noluckduck: (That thing is a WHAT?!)

... You're tellin' me that's just a normal wallet.

[ She pours for both of them, and wraps her hand around her mug. ]

While I'd rather families could stay together here, Mayfield has other ideas. Is there anything I should know about John, like allergies and such?

Date: 2011-12-27 05:27 pm (UTC)
From: [identity profile] busy-fists.livejournal.com
Well, it was kind of an expensive wallet. But yeah.

[Dad shrugs, folding the stack of pies back into a dozen or so captchalogue cards, tucking them into the wallet, and sticking it back in his pocket.]

I'm guessing they don't have this kind of thing where most people come from.

From: [identity profile] busy-fists.livejournal.com
That's all right, I'm sure John's doing just fine. And it's not like he can't come over and visit anytime he wants.

[Dad blows on his tea a little before taking a sip.]

He's allergic to peanuts.
