[Phone; drone filter]

Well... looks like we're all going to have to do a little cutting back this Christmas.  But you know, even if there's no power and not as much food, at least we've all still got a good, solid roof over our heads.  If you look at it that way, the town's been a lot kinder to us for Christmas than they were for Thanksgiving.  I'm sure this is nothing we can't weather if everybody pitches in and helps each other out.  Maybe we can set up a food bank or some sort of shelter.  It's times like these when a community really needs to come together, after all.

[Early evening; door to door]

[True to his earlier sentiment, Dad is going to pitch in and do his part to make sure his neighbors are at least able to have something to eat during these rough times.  He's always been a firm believer in preparedness, and thank goodness, because by now he's built up quite a stock of cream pies.  There's probably a few hundred of them safely captchalogued away in his trusty wallet modus, so he figures he can spare a few here and there to feed his hungry neighbors.  Dad will be going around knocking on every door in town on the first day of the event, hoping to share the wealth.]

Knock knock, neighbor!

You did day every door in town.

[ The woman who answers the door winces at the sharp bite in the wind, and doesn't hesitate to bring the visitor in. ]

Come in, get out of the cold. I managed to make tea during the latest power hour.

[ Mr Egbert may or may not notice the family portrait in the hall having a familiar face. ]

[Clover opens the door--

And thinks she's got to be looking at another creepy drone, so she just slams it right back in your face. Sorry, Mr. Egbert.]

[germany regards him warily as he opens the door.]

May I help you?

Just here to offer you some pie. Seemed like the right thing to do, what with the town in the state it is and considering I've got so much of it on hand.

[Germany may note that Dad is in fact currently not carrying any sort of pie whatsoever.]

Huh. Never seen someone so upset about free food before.

I did indeed

Thanks! It is getting pretty chilly out there.

[Dad avails himself of the warmth, taking off his scarf and coat.]

I came by to bring you some pie. Well, you and the rest of the neighborhood, really.

[He's not carrying any, but he pulls out his wallet and is about to open it when he sees the portrait.]

Hey, that's my son John! So this is where Mayfield put him, then?

On hand, you say...

[germany looks him up and down. sure enough, not a single pie in sight.]

Well. That's very hospitable of you to offer...

What's your favorite flavor? They're all cream pies, I'm afraid, but I've got a lot of different kinds. Banana, coconut cream, Boston creme...

[He pulls his wallet out of his pocket, flipping through it while he's rattling off names of pies.]

[he's not exactly sure where this is going, but...]

Chocolate cream.

Yeah, he's a good kid. Where are you in town?

[Dad pulls a small card out of his wallet, which immediately turns into the requested pie in his hand. He smiles and offers it forth.]

Here you go!

[he sort of. hesitates before taking it. wallets were not made for the transportation of pies. . .]

How did you do that?

Hmm.. Well, we don't know for sure yet, right..? There's no way of telling whether this is everything they will do for Christmas or whether it will still get worse.

I don't see any food there, Mr... Generic O'I-love-Mayfield!

[Wow, that was pretty terrible. Good thing she is obviously talking to a drone who won't make fun of her for it or anything!]

Oh, I keep forgetting Mayfield doesn't have this kind of thing.

[Dad opens his wallet again to show Germany. It's filled with little cards with pictures of things on them - primarily different varieties of pies, boxes of pipe tobacco, and cans of shaving cream. Here is a man who likes to be prepared.]

It's called a fetch modus. Handy little way to carry things around with you. I like this one because it's easy to use and stores quite a bit. I kept a spare car in here back home. You never know when you might need one.

He is. I'm so proud of him. Anyway, I'm over on Miller Street. 311. The name's Egbert.

Oh, Dolorosa! Good to see you again. I came to offer you and yours some pie. I happen to have found myself with more than I really need.

It's true, yet it seems it's not in human nature to work together a lot, is it..? Once something happens, they usually start thinking of just their own good first, ignoring everyone else.

Good to know - and if this clears up anytime soon, maybe we can have everyone together for dinner. Got to keep celebrating, or they win.

What.

Maybe... No. Nooo, she is all up in this town's SHITTYHORRORMOVIE-NESS ATTRIBUTE.]
